Hi All, just wondering if anyone has experience setting up a calculated traffic light that provides insights into the status of the schedule. Something like:

• Majority of tasks do not have any resources - Red
• Majority of tasks use a Generic Resource - Amber
• Majority of tasks use named resources - Green

I had a quick look and see you can use Resource fields like "Group", "Overallocation", "Max Units" in calculatedtask fields. Which looks promising. However I could only get the Group field to return meaningful data.

If I set my generic resources to have a Group value of "Generic" and my named resources to have a Group value of "Named" - then I think I could return the resource category and perform a test to see which value/s are returned on a task by task level and then pass up a project level traffic light.

However I would also like to add a layer of sophistication regarding if the resource is overallocated. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and can give me some pointers before I spend some serious time investigating.

Hello.  After migration to Project 2013  from Project 2010. Error Occured while opening your Project for Edit.  Some project open normally, some not.

I check for open project with admin rights. Project does not have blank rows. I am not able to edit the project in MSP. I run the browser in IE10 compatible mode, and this not help me.

Can we change the date format in Project Server 2013 to format like 30 May 13. Example below the Start and Finish columns has numerical date format I need to change it to format like 30 May 13. Can I do so, if yes then how?

We are running Project Server 2010 SP2. We manually add users to the Project Server Security group instead of using AD synchronization. Beginning yesterday, the User Synchronization (Delete Operation) that is started after editing a user began running indefinitely. We typically average about 100 seconds (we have 4000 project sites) but with several users yesterday, the job continued to run all day. We eventually cancelled the job and were able to run a few users with normal run times, but now the job is running for hours again.

Our SharePoint admin restarted the events and Queue Services, which had the jobs start over again, but they are still running. any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm beyond confused right now on what's required to run project sever 2013. I was under the impression I need Sharepoint, SQL Standard, and ms project server. 

I plan on ordering a 2 processor 12C 24T with 64gb of ram with vsphere. I ask dell for a quote on Sharepoint, SQL, and all required software and what they came back with confused me more. We will have 5-10 users..

This is Project Server pricing.  Below is Licensing as well as Licensing plus Software Assurance.  Each user will need a CAL, and SA is required for HA (mobility rights) in a virtual environment.

Here is pricing for SharePoint.  SharePoint Enterprise CALs are add on CALs in addition to the Std CAL and required for Project Server.  Pricing below includes License only and License plus SA.  SA is required for HA (mobility rights) in a virtual environment

SQL Enterprise is also required for Project Server.  SQL Enterprise is licensed per core with a minimum of 4 cores licensed per instance.  SA is also required for mobility rights in a virtual instance.

We recently upgraded from PS 2010 to PS 2013.  While I can see all of the projects (over 6,000) in the Project Center, the Resource Center (View Availability) does not list the projects.  The projects also do not show up in MSP Pro 2013 when viewing data under the Resource Usage View. 

They were all there before upgrading, and it is not a filter issue (none applied).  It appears if you open, save, and publish the schedules, the resource informaiton will then show in the Resource Center (View Availibility). 

So my question, is it a true fact that all schedules have to be opened, saved, and published prior to viewing Resource Data?

When we try to convert a project from Project Ideations to a project we get CreateWssSite job failed alerts and the project site does not get created.

Your CreateWssSite job failed.  Its current state is FailedNotBlocking. It was 0% complete.  It entered the queue at 07/03/2015 15:03:54.

To get more information about the job failure, please go to Project Web App. Select Personal Settings from the left menu.  Then select My Queued Jobs.

You can do the following:

1. Try troubleshooting using the error IDs, error XML.

2. Contact administrator with your jobID (af68363c-b621-e511-80db-0050569d06d6) and error XML.

To turn off these notifications, go to PWA Settings, and then click Manage My Alerts and Reminders.

From this page, you can clear the check box for those notifications you no longer want to receive.

what is the default functionality of Project Server 2013 when a user creates a project with the name that already exists? 

We just installed October 2015 CU and it seems that Project Server 2013 now doesn't give any warning when creating a project with the name that already exists. it simple creates a project with the same name and adds "_0" to it.  the users are not happy with it and ask us if this can be disabled.

I am in requirement to fetch MSPS Task Data (TaskCost,TaskActualCost) as Timephased in one report but as I start looking into the DB table,I see that we do not have Task Data timephased like we have Assignment Data.

As per my understanding,if we use  dbo.MSP_EpmAssignmentByDay we can fetch AssignmentCost or AssignmentActualCost etc TimeByDay but in the same way if we look for dbo.MSP_EpmTaskByDayor dbo.MSP_EpmTaskByDay_UserView,we do not see any Task Data(ActualCost or Cost etc) though we can see Baseline Task Data which we are not interested in.

Also,these tasks do not have entry in Assignment Table\views as no resources are assigned on it.

My understanding says its a tool design that it can not show Task Data in timephased manner but on the same theory I am not able to understand then why BaselineData(Baseline0Cost etc) are possible to fetch in timephased manner.

Anyone having knowledge on this,please share.

While connecting to Project Professional on user's computer, from project online where SSO has been implemented - it always prompts for username and password - which is not resolving and users are unable to enter Project Professional.

For all other applications, users just have to enter their email id and SSO redirects further.

Please let me know what can be done here.

Hello All,

We are using Project Server 2010.  We have been using Earned Value Management (EVM) to measure project performance.  We set the project to "Physical % Complete" and confirm that all of the tasks show PPC in the Earned Value Method field (Advanced tab).  However, on a recent project, we added new tasks and baselined those tasks separately.  However they do not roll up into the PPC value in the Summary Bar(s).

Since the tasks are already PPC/EVM and baselined, what steps do I follow to correct this roll-up issue?  I read on another post something about the Project Status Date (Project Information).  Our status date is Tuesdays (weekly).  Do the PM's need to change this date every week?

We are implementing project server 2013. The below are the scenario.

1. We need retrieve some values from ERP and fill PDP fields

2. We need retrieve some values from AD and fill PDP fields

3. Retrieve some values SharePoint list and fill PDP

4. Based on the selection of the previous field value, the following column value need to be filled

In the above scenarios can we use the enterprise custom fields and default PDP or we use the solutions like InfoPath forms. Please suggest if there is any other way to achieve this.

Hi,

We are upgrading from Project server 2010 to 2013, and in that process we run the command 

"upgrade-spsite -identity http://..../pwa -versionupgrade" and this command has completed on 15% after 2 days (48 hours). The size of the contentdabase, which holds the PWA site isonly 10 GB. The configuration of Project server 2013 and Database server is

8 Cores and 16 GB for each server (this is a 2 tier environment), theOS is Windows 2012 and SQL version is 2012 Enterprise. On SQL box we have stopped SSIS, SSRS and SSAS services. Both servers are virtual servers.

Please help me to speed-up this task and fix for this issue. Because I have found on internet that people have upgraded 250 GB of data is just 2 days.
