we are using the project server 2010. One user has the following problem:
When he click on "Open -> In Project Professional for Editing" the client starts and opens two projects, the right one (which the user selected) and a new / empty one.
Other users dont have this problem (with same project). Their client opens only the selected project.
Does someone know why?

Hi, There is a problem which we have with project server, when i want to publish a new project it says that i should create a workspace for it,i do so but after that the workspace isn't showed in server settings\project work spaces... then again when i make changes to the project and publish it, it says that you should create a workspace,i give it the same name and it says that this one already exists but actually there isn't any in server settings\project work spaces. i'm really confused.

We have a std calendar with 4/10 workweeks, (Fridays OFF) and holidays blocked out.
Even though this calendar has been selected, some tasks end on fridays or holidays. How do I ensure the calendar is followed?

Hard to reproduce, probably more than one issue, but for instance following scenario was reported:
- User created a "New Task Request" on a given project for his timesheet
- In Approval Center, Timesheet Manager rejects, because wrong project
- User notices the rejection and opening his timesheet, he no longer sees the task

I have modified the ProjectInformation page to add more information on PWA and it turned blank after that, thus I cannot start a proposal or project plan begining with this page.
I tried to download a copy of this page included in a hotfix package from Microsoft and compared the contents; and there is no difference between the two. I don't know why. Would you please help me to fix this problem?

If I add another Project Leader to some activities of my Schedule, the Leader that I added has the permission for editting my Scheduel.
Can I (Administrator role) deny this permisson for the leader that is a member of my team work ?
In PS2007, when you had a PWA project detail view with groups, the tasks within each group were shown with the indentation corresponding to each task outline level, so you could view the tasks structure and also you could expand/collapse the view at any tasks outline level.
But in PS2010, when you define a PWA project detail view with groups, the tasks within each group are all shown at the same level, without indentation and you can not expand/collapse the view using tasks outline levels.
¿Is there a way I can change this behaviour in PS2010 so the PWA project detail views with groups have the functionality that was present in PS2007?

I created a view with some field and decided to group it by a custom field. When i see the view in the project center the fields are ok but in the row of the group (Yellow one) in some columns they show a value for that group and other they don’t show. For example: The Columns Start shows the max data of all project at the group but the Baseline Star don’t show any value.
The question is: Why the value appears in some columns and don’t appear in others?

I have MSP 2010 with latest CU applied (June 2012 CU)
I’m using SEM. Tracking method: Hours of work done per period with “Force project managers to use the progress reporting method specified above for all projects” option marked.
I also have marked Only allow task updates via Tasks and Timesheets
My tasks are manually scheduled. I’m reporting my hours using timesheet view.
If I understand those settings correctly any actual work changes, % Complete changes will be prohibited – am I right?
I’m asking this question because I have problem with replacing timesheet actuals with planned values and I’m not able to correct those problems easily.
Maybe someone have this same problem? When I’m trying to delete replaced actuals (+accept and publish) they come up again when I delete my timesheet.
This is old problem and after each CU I’m praying for a solution but I have still the same problems.

I want to insert a custom field that uses formula & graphical indicators to identify Checked Out Projects, however I cannot find the field to use in the formula 'Checked Out' does not work. I can add the 'Checked Out' and 'Checked Out By' to a project centre view but the client wants a visual image.

I've created 3 columns:
1- Duration1 >> (Number).
2- Baseline Estimated Start >> (Date).
3- Baseline Estimated Finish >> (Date).
I need to subtract the Baseline Estimated Finish from Baseline Estimated Start and provide me the value in 'Duration1'.
Ex. Baseline Estimated Start is 5-oct-12 and Baseline Estimated Finish is 6-oct-12 then the duration should be 2 days.

I have a Sharepoint 2007 setup running project server 2007. Everything seem fine except the home PWA pages does load. Eventualy it times out and I can go to the maintenance page and remove web parts. closing the reminder web part fixes the issue and the page loads. If I reenable the reminder web part the page times out again. This is happening to all users. remiving the reminder webpart and re -adding it doesn't make a difference. All other pages in project server work fine. there are only about 50 scheudle on this server and I have tested with a new user with no tasks, alerts, issues etc. I have also test with user with a few task and it doesn't make a difference. I am not getting a good error message so it is hard to track down why this is happing. Checking the sharepoint logs I see this:

On two project sites, a few users (who have correct permissions) and myself (who has full control permissions) are unable to check in documents after editing the properties. All required fields are properly filled in, however, once a user goes to check it in, they receive an error stating that the required fields need to be filled out.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to begin proper troubleshooting?

I am trying to synch up SharePoint 2010 Task list with Ms Project 2010.I have created some custom column in Task List i.e. lookup column , managed Metadata Column (Enterprise Keywords). Once I click Sync button , first time Only OOB columns (Name ,Start, Finish,%Complete) get synced.To map custom SharePoint columns I clickd on Managed Fields Button, Here Project fields and SharePoint Fields mapping need to be defined.
Here I am not able to See my managed metadata column and Lookup column in Sharepoint Fileds.
Kindly advise how to map SharePoint Managed metadata field, lookup field with Project field.

I recently installed this hotfix to fix the duplicating custom fields issue.
Since installing i have been inable to run the PSConfig.exe as it fails at Task 9.
Errors returned include
"the exclusive inplace upgrader tier job has failed" in the intal log that is pointed to when failed
It apears form theULS logs that the schema changes are not being recongised by the Products Config Wizard when i try to run it
Has anyone else encountered this?

I'd like to ask for your expertise. I have been givin the task of extracting data from project server 2010 into a list, perhaps within excel from project server. This data will then be updated into a bespoke SQL server database.
The file would include such fields as:
Project Name
Project Description
Benifit Type
Risk Name
Risk Category
etc...
However I thought it would be as simple as querying the data from the Project Server SQL server database. I'm now not sure if this is the case as I've been told the PS database is unquerable as the schema is complex. I'm unsure of the Project
server layout and was hoping someone could give me a little insight into obtaining this type of data.
Can I retrieve this data from a SQL database?
Do I have to extract it via Sharepoint using XML? (so I've been told)

I've a question concerning the planned activity in Timesheet :
When people don't enter actual for a week in which activities are planned, and then submit their timesheet, the status manager doesn't receive the 'empty' tasks.
Consequently, people find they have planned activities in the past.
My question is : how can people submit empty actual values so that remaining work is replannified from the current date ?
