Hi, On the PWA home page, I have a message indicating that I have 2 tasks update pending approval. However, when I go to the approval center, there is nothing.

Email alerts using the setting "Someone changes an item that appears in the following view"
Hello, we are using Project Server 2010 and patched up to the June 2012 CU. Our project sites use a template that has been modified by one of our Project Managers and I am not sure of all the changes that were made. However, I believe one of the changes is causing email alerts not to be sent out when the option "Someone changes an item that appears in the following view" is selected in the Edit Alerts window. These types of alerts work in our other sharepoint environments and and I have set up a new pwa and used the default template and the alerts work there also. When I applied the modified template to the new pwa, the alerts stopped working.
I have read that it is best not to modify the Issues and Risks lists, and these have both been slightly modified as far as I know, so that could be a cause. But does anyone have any other ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks!

PWA 2010 all features not working when accessing through extranet
Hi,
Project Server 2010 is published using TMG to be accessed from extranet environemnt OR through internet.
now PWA is accessible from the internet, however i am facing serious issues such as:
- PWA home page is not reflecting Project Web App image which appears on top of the page.
- scroll bars are not appearing, hence i am unable to scroll to browse navigation links available in Quick launch
- project center is not working. no PDPs are appearing.
any help/advise would be much appriciated, thanks..

Project Server in SharePoint Farm - Database settings and Best Practices
Hi,
On our Project Server instance, we noticed that Database Server is taking a lot of load even when there are no users accessing the server i.e., even on weekends and holidays.
Is there any particular reason for the DB server to behave in this way? (we see the server is using 90% of memory all the time)
We use the instance only for Project Server application.
Are there any best practices specific to Project Server to improve the performance of the server?

How to uncheck the field 'Resource can logon to Project Server'?
Hi,
I'm using Project Server 2010.
I've been reading a lot of answers regarding this issue here, but I haven't found the right one, the reality is that I'm not able at all to uncheck the field 'Resource can logon to Project Server', so that in order to know how many licenses I'm using for Project Pro and/or Project Server access I cannot use Project Server, I have to do it outside (like an Excel file where I have a record of users that don't logon to project server).
The situation is very simple, I have some users that were filling up their timesheets, but now they have changed the department in the company and they do not need to fill up the timesheet, they do not need to access Project Server in any case, but I do not want them to be deactivated because we need to use them as resources in some projects (not generic rresources, because we know them and we want them in these tasks), on the other hand I do not want to loose the timesheets that they filled up before, when they were normal users.
Is there a clear solution for this issue, or just doesn't exist a solution in Project Server for this kind of situation? The licenses count is invalid in Project Server because they don't use the system, so their licenses can be used by other people, that are not users yet but could posibly be.

Mixed numbers of tasks in PWA
During editing project in Project Web Access (Project 2010) when I instert new task between task already saved, project doesn't renumber old task, but put last free number. For example if I have 50 task and want to put new task between 24 and 25 project put me this task with number 51. This is happened only on one user account, even If I work as delegete. What is very strange, after publishing this project number of tasks are put right.

Updating Enterprise Global template
Hi there Server Gurus,
In the past I've updated the global template settings to change the default view of all my MS Project files (created in Proj Centre).. but for some reason it's not working anymore
I am opening my Project in the Project Center via Project Professional. When I open my file, I change some views such as:
* In Resource Usage - on the left pane ive added some extra columns
* In Resource Usage view - on the right pane ive selected to view Work only
When I publish the file and reopen it, extra columns do not save.
I've tried updating the Resource Usage views in the Global Template by clicking Server Settings->Enterprise Data->Enterprose Global-> Select 'Configure Proj Professional' and made the changes. I then click Publish
Problem is that when I reopen my file, the changes that I made on the global do not appear on my file.

Best practice for dealing with a resource's historical data when, for example, they change department...
Hi,
Can anyone point me to the best practice for dealing with resources that move, for example, from one department to another as it relates to keeping its historical data?
For example, one resource works in department ABC for 6 months and then moves to department XYZ. How do we report on the data for that resource while he was in department ABC?
A way we previously did this in Project Server 2007 was to deactivate the previous resource and renaming its windows account. Then we created a new resource in department XYZ.
Any best practices would be appreciated...

Sharepoint List and Resource Working time Sync in MS Project?
Hi,
We have a SharePoint list where users enter their vacation time. Fields include Name of the user, vacation dates and description. We are currently doing manual updates to resource working time (or vacation time) in MS Project using the information in SharePoint list. Is there a way to Sync this so the manual update is automatic? We are using Sharepoint 2007 and MS Project 2007. If it cannot be done in this version can it be done using MS Project 2010 and Sharepoint Server 2010?

Actually I’ve been working on EPM for one year and I’ve been through this error many times. Before I used to think that this is the problem of my custom-workflow. But this time I’ve been getting this error on the new site where I’ve been using Sample Proposal Workflow for all my demands.

404 - File or directory not found.
Hi All
When I try to open my PWA 2010 Site, I get the following error message
"404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."
Can anyone suggest where should I look for? What can be the reason for this error?
No one is able to access the PWA Site. Need help!!

Enterprise Custom Fields missing from Filter Definition after upgrade to MS Project Server 2010
After upgrading MS Project Server 2007 to 2010, all Enterprise Custom Fields are missing from the Filter Definition within each Custom View. Only local custom and standard MS fields remain in the Filters. Does anyone know what caused this and how to fix
the filters without manually updating each Filter. Thanks.

Timesheet Status = Error (Project Server 2010)

We have a number of timesheets with a status of ‘Error’ which seems to give us some trouble…
When the user goes to ‘Manage Timesheets’ the timesheet is listed with the logged hours and with a status of ‘Approved’. When you however click of the timesheet to drill into the details, the timesheet states that the status is ‘Error’.
If the line manager who approves the timesheets goes to the ‘Approval Center’ page and then on the ‘History’ dropdown select ‘Timesheets’, the page loads with an error message above the we part which states for example:
- Timesheet 'My Timesheet', Stephan Smit, 2011Week01 (2011/01/02 - 2011/01/08): An error occurred while communicating with the server. Check connectivity with your administrator to determine whether further action is necessary.
In order to try and fix this we then try to recall the timesheet so that we can redo or delete it, but recalling it does not take effect – it tries to recall it forever but never completes the recall.
This means we cannot fix the timesheet and we encounter this issue with quite a number of users, but don’t seem to be able to determine reproduce steps for this.
We are using Project Server 2010 and are using the integrated mode for timesheets.
This is quite a critical issue and would appreciate any advice on a workaround as well as a possible fix for this.

Dates in project with only manually scheduled tasks changes automattically
Hello everybody.
In some cases we noticed the following problem:
Users planed a project (only!) with manually scheduled tasks and published it.
After some time the user open his project (to edit it) and recognize that the dates (start & finished) would changed automatically to values that are inexplicable.
We dont use any timesheets or other features to confirm time or progresses.
Anybody an idea? Is there a known bug? Or maybe some knows how i can check why the values changed?
