Cost custom field bug after CU update

I encountered an interesting behavior of custom "cost" fields on my PDP pages after September 2018 CU update.
Lets say I have a cost field named "Budget" on one of my PDP pages for enterprise project types and when I check out the project and try to enter a value into the Budget field, it keeps finishing and then deleting my entry.

If I try to enter a value of 15000 (€), system just takes the first one or two numbers (it actually depends on the speed of typing the number) and places the currency symbol at the end, other numbers are then written after the currency symbol (15,00€000) and the entry is deleted altogether. The only way to insert a value into the filed is to copy/paste the whole thing!

Field is not workflow controlled, I'm in the role of administrator and other users experience the same thing. I also tried to change the value in MS Project 2016 (Project Information) and no such behavior is experienced there.
Sharepoint 2013/PWA is installed on premises.

Good Day,

We have a user who was attempting to check in her project which ended in error:

  • GeneralQueueJobFailed (26000) -ManagedModeTaskSynchronization.SynchronizeTaskListInManagedModeMessage. Details: id='26000' name='GeneralQueueJobFailed' uid='98001440-407f-e611-ab5b-a0d3c10627cc' JobUID='1c94c472-610b-4e9b-a7b7-db6b7bf8b965' ComputerName='b6c7a8c6-9f17-4c8e-b2c1-022ba92b5aea' GroupType='ManagedModeTaskSynchronization' MessageType='SynchronizeTaskListInManagedModeMessage' MessageId='1' Stage='' CorrelationUID='300ea29d-5e51-00ce-3d1f-b610d42b19b7'. It still appears as checked out to the user and when I click the link in Project center is says:

The Check-in operation has been queued, but is taking longer than expected to process. To check the status of the Check-in queue job, either visit the My Queue Jobs page, or refresh the page.

Click OK to close the project and return to Project Center.

As a support admin, is there anything I can do to fix the issue or will it need to be resolved by the owner of the project? Please lists steps to correct the error. Any feedback approcaited!

Setting a custom lookup field using designer workflow error

Hi,

I am using Project Server 2013 with a SharePoint workflow. What I am trying to do is to set the value of a custom field that reads its values from a lookup table (this field will show users as options to select from). In the SharePoint workflow, there is an option to set a project field and I am using it. I selected this action and I have selected my field "Name" as the project field and a workflow lookup value as the value that will be assigned.

My problem is that when I publish the workflow and start it, it will suspend in this stage with the following message:

" Details: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the workflow instance. Exception details: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: Input at Microsoft.Activities.Hosting.Runtime.Subroutine.SubroutineChild.Execute(CodeActivityContext context) at System.Activities.CodeActivity.InternalExecute(ActivityInstance instance, ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager bookmarkManager) at System.Activities.Runtime.ActivityExecutor.ExecuteActivityWorkItem.ExecuteBody(ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager bookmarkManager, Location resultLocation)"

As you know, there are two options to assign a value to a custom lookup filed, one is to select a value from a drop down (shows the lookup table values) and the other is to use a workflow lookup value. When I select a value from the drop down, the workflow works perfectly but when I use the workflow lookup value it gives me this error.

I would like to understand why I am receving a null error when I am assigning a value using the  approach.

Project Server Detail Pages Rights issues for some users (Sorry, you don't have access to this page).

Hi All,

Your kind support is required on the said issue. The issue is when I open the project in editing mode in the project web app then the schedule and project site is open and working fine but the details page is not accessible to some user (custom groups members)



As shown in the above image, the administrator has rights on all the details but I have created some custom group for each department, therefore, the users of this group have access to the schedule and project sitebut the Project Details PC-2 is not showing to it due to the rights issue as shown in the below image.

Kindly support me on the problem.........

Notes column data when updating Tasks Progress

Wanted to check, can I extract the Notes column data in the reports SSRS/PowerBI, which gets saved during Task Progress Updates. So that the Project Owner can know the exact reason that why a particular task is getting delayed?

Automatically changing the value fromProposed to Commitedin the field State (Resources -> Resource Requests) when I add the involvement of the resource

Case:

1. User account with permissions - Project managers

2. In Resources I select specific resources, click to Resource Requests

3. Click Add engagement, fill required parameters: Resource, Project, Start, Finish, Allocate resource by

4. Click Accept After the event is processed the State of resource type reservations becomes Commited (not Proposed)

The following parameters are set in Resource profile:

- Resource requires approval for all project assignments = " Yes"

- Default Booking Type = " Proposed"

I will be grateful for the help who faced a similar problem and solved it. Thanks beforehand!

Project Server 2010 Custom Fields Translation Issue

Hi,

I want to create custom fields with multilanguage support. I haven't tried yet but ProjTool uses PSI LookupTable class to create multilanguage lookup tables. It's fine but what about PDPs, EPTs and custom field names?

For example in Dynamics CRM there is a translation.xml file. We can export, translate custom values and re-import it. Is there a solution in project server like that?

There is a forum thread at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/projserv2010setup/thread/845880ec-6c8f-4fe2-9d2f-3bd977fcca70/ but I'm not sure that is the same issue.

Email notification when PM rejects a task update

PS 2013. Task updates, not timesheets.

I'm trying to find out if there's a setting that would allow the user who submitted a task update through PWA to receive an e-mail notification if the PM rejected that update.  The PM can reject with comment, but I don't see where the comment ever makes it back to the user.  Any ideas?

we are using office 365 and we deployed public folder and we don't want to add user by manual to public folder, because we have around 600 mailbox users, so how we can add all users by script or command line?

task assignment notification

Hi, 

I am working on project online project for a client, and a requirement was to add task updates only from timesheets. 

The task assignment email contains a link to the task center. Is there a way to change the link to direct to timesheets?

Hey!

I have a customer receiving the error below when publishing a specific project.  They are on project online.  Typically for this type of error I see the issue being related to text values in date fields for manually scheduled tasks.  This is not the case for this particular project.  If anyone has see this and has info it'd be appreciated.

Project Server 2016 on SQL Server 2017 - OLAP Cube dimension broken

Hi,

we have a test environment with Project Server 2016 (June 2018 CU applied, LP German) with an underlying SQL Server 2017. Cube build is completed successfully and can be accessed.

However, if you connect to the PortfolioAnalyzer in Excel 2016 and try to drill down into the RSP dimension, we get an "Internal Error. Unexpected exception" error. The first level is displayed ok, but we are not able to click on the + sign to get the underlying values.

So I tried to browse the dimension directly in the SQL Management Studio - and again so the "Internal Error. Unexpected exception" error trying to open the RSP dimension.

Same behavior for other dimensions with more then 1 level.

Any ideas on what might be wrong?

PS: We had a development environment with Project Server 2016 June CU 2018 on SQL Server 2014, same configuration of PWA and services, etc. as the test environment. There the drilldown into RSP was working fine. So is this something related to SQL Server 2017?

Project Server 2013 License on SharePoint 2013 Farm

We have SharePoint 2013 with 3WFEs and 1 App and 1 Search Server.  We do have Project Server 2013 installed on all 5 servers.  We had Project Server services: Calculation Services, Events Service and Queue Service ran on all 3 WFEs server and 1 App server.

We are currently pay 2 license for project servers but my manager would like to confirm how many project servers that we actually  need?  Does project server number of licenses count on the servers that ran 3 services as I listed above or if we reduce services ran on one server, does it count as 1 license required or how is the licensing model work on SharePoint farm with multiple WFEs and apps/search?

Is there any MS support article explain Project server license in details?

Custom field - formula - value from lookup custom field

Hello,

I want to create a new custom field that calculates it's value based on a formula. The formula contains other custom fields that are lookup tables. So I want to use the value of another custom field that the user selected from a lookup table in the formula.

It looks like this is not possible. I cannot find any custom fields type that select their value from lookup tables in the list of "pick fields". Also if I try to add the field manually: [Field name], the formula is not calculated.

Is there a solution for this?

MS Project Server with SharePoint 2019

Hello,

We just got configured Project Server 2019 in our SharePoint 2019.  First ever Project Server with SharePoint.  Would like to know how to import the .mpp file we have already. 

I have MS Project 2016 STD Standalone (no integration with any Project Server instance) installed as client earlier. Is there any configuration need to be done to work seemlessly with Project Server 2019?

Breaking inheritance share point project site

hi ,

the scenario is , I’m trying to create a document library with a special permission

1- i navigate to project site

2- Created the library

3- Broke the permission 

4- Saved the template 

When i tried to use the project site with new project, i noticed that the project site has broken my
special permission and used the default permission inherited from the parent PWA Site
