wrong resource congestion alarm

Hello!

I get different results of resource utilization depending on the order of opening files.

If I first open the file that chronologically comes second, and then the file that chronologically goes first, then I see an overload of the resource. If I open these files in chronological order, the resource is not overloaded.

What I do wrong?

changed default assigned user in RBS has no effect on tasks of users

Hello,

we...

- use CustomField RBS, where we type in the names of our departments

- have generated serveral resources, at RBS we set the departments see above, at default assigned user we set the department leader

now we have noticed this:

in one department the leader has changed. therefore we changed for the ressource the default assigned user from OldLeader to NewLeader

then we realized that the OldLeader has in his task-center still all the task as before, and the NewLeader can´t see all the pending task for his department, because they stick to the OldLeader

How can we change this behaviour, because the tasks have to stick to the resouce/department, not depending on who is leader/default assigned user

Thank you in advance

Risk columns created in a project site do not appear in Excel query

Dear,

I have created some extra columns in the risk list in one of my project's site and then linked my Excel to project online (to the project site) using OData Feed, in order to create some custom Risk Reports. The Query shows me only the default columns that already existed in the risk list but not the ones I have created. Is there any way to also have the custom columns I created to appear in my pivot table field list?

I will appreciate your help a lot!

Display Week totals for Resource timesheets

0
0

Hello,

I wanted to know if and how can I add the week details to the Resource timesheets. Currently, the resources are logging intime on various projects and the Timesheet view has only totals by day. We want to be able to see a week total as well. Our workweek has 40 hours and it would be easier for the resource to check if they've met that constraint with this on display as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Pooja.

Unable to Connect Via OData using Data Factory

Team,

I am trying to create a Linked Service using an Azure Data Factory OData connection to my companies Project Online instance.  Unfortunately, it is returning the following error:

UserError: Failed to create OData connection to https://CompanyName.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/Projectdata/ Fail to get metadata of odata service, please check if service url and credential is correct., activityId: activityId

My permissions level is "Full Control" as defined under Site Settings -> Site Permissions.

I've tried using both name@CompanyName.ca and CompanyDomain\Username to log in.

I have tried both Window and Basic authentication, both fail.  Interestingly, these options also fail in Power BI but I can connect using the "Organizational Account" option in Power BI.  Azure Data Factory does not have the "Organizational Account" options, unfortunately. I think the issue is related to this.

I'm at a loss as to what else I can do.  Any suggestions?

Template is missing when trying to associate to an EPT in MS Project Server 2016

Hello!
After moving Project Server 2013 to Project Server 2016, I had a problem. I can not find the site template and language template (not even by default) when trying to associate to an EPT (as shown in the screenshots). Now you can not "update" the current instance of Project using the Upgrade-SPProjectWebInstance command, and it did not work for me. Mass update of connected SharePoint sites also does not help to solve this problem. How to fix this problem?

Hello!

I have read your following articles:
https://www.c-sharpcorner.com/article/sharepoint-permission-mode-vs-project-permission-mode-in-project-server-2016-2/

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/38361.project-server-2016-sharepoint-permission-mode-vs-project-permission-mode.aspx

https://blog.devoworx.net/2016/02/23/sharepoint-permission-mode-vs-project-server-permission-mode-in-project-server-2013/

I applicated some rules from these articles and found the next problems.
After installing Mode ProjectServer I didn't see the "Project Web App Permissions" section in the Security group and the "View OLAP data" option did not appear in global permissions. Is it correct situation in Project Server 2016? If it isn't correct how can I fix it?

Project Professional Asks Credentials Twice

Hello Everyone,

I have a SharePoint server that is running a Project Web App. When trying to connect to project server using Project Professional users need to enter their credentials twice before they can access the server.

We have a single server setup and our employees access the site in different locations. So the web app is open to internet using claims based authentication. This is basically a test environment with 6 users in total.

Hi,

We have a couple views A, B, C, D.  We would like D to be default view when the task owner get to PWA without cruising through A, B, C which are more for central group.

How can we make D as a default?

Extract PWA, Issues, Schedules and Tasks data for reporting

0
0

I have to develop some reports using data (PWA, Issues, Schedules, Assignments and Tasks etc.) from Project Server 2016.  Several reviews have recommended to use SSRS/Excel against the pjrep schema tables or OData API.  So far, i am not having much success.

With SSIS OData API I can view all the collections (Projects, Issues, Risks, etc.) and preview data except for Projects which I get a bunch of Microsoft.Data.DataFeedClient errors.  When I can preview the data I am finding that I don't see all the fields for the collection.  I am assuming the data I cannot preview are the CUSTOM fields.  If this assumption is correct then how I can get to the CUSTOM fields so I can extract all the data required for reporting?

I could extract and stage all the data i need and then put into datawarehouse tables for reporting.  I could also use SSAS to build a Project Server model for reporting.  i just don't know where I can get all the data I need.

How do report developers typically get Project Server data for reporting?  Which Project Server 2016 DB / schema (for the tables that include DEFAULT and CUSTOM fields) should I reach out for data?

I am not familiar with Project Server.  I would greatly appreciate any help and advise.

What is the best way to announce (as a resource) the expected completion date of a task to the project leader?

Hello,

the question is in the title.

In addition:

- i should be possible for the resource to enter/edit the date in the my assignments view and in the detail page of the task, so which field show be used and made available?

- if the field is added and dates have been entered, is there a possibility to preview the effect for the whole schedule?

has anyone heard of an API to take a resource approved vacation out of the Ultipro application and import to Project Server enterprise resource pool calendar

0

we would like to remove double efforts to put vacation requests into the Ultipro application AND in the Project Server enterprise resource calendar.   the book of record is the Ultipro but we need it obviously for the projects using the resource pool so the vacation would filter down to the MSP.

do you know how to go about getting/building an API?

What the best way to check task baseline status on PWA with formula?

0
0

Dear experts,

We need to rebuild formula for our enterprise project custom field that would be check baseline status for tasks based on 'baseline finish" field on PWA. So i found following constructions of formula:

1) IIf(ProjDateValue([Baseline Finish]) = 4294967295;"No Baseline";"On Schedule") this example we use now, but he does not work correctly for some our enterprise projects.

2) IIf([Baseline Finish] > 50000; "4_ No Baseline";"On Schedule") this example from this article"Working with Custom Field Formulas"

3) IIf([Baseline Finish] = ProjDateValue("NA");"No Baseline";"On Schedule") i found this example from Dale A. Howard by this link

But in another topic from this forum i also found information from Gary Chefetz that don`t recommend to use ProjDateValue () function for PWA calculations.

First example of formula construction do not work correctly for project task on PWA. So we are looking for correct construction of this formula for our custom field that would be working fine for all projects on Project Web Application (Project Server 2010).

What you recommend for us in this case?

Check In and Check Out Version History on PWA/Project Online 2016

Hi All,

I am an IT administrator. In my organization different Project Managers are managing projects. They are creating and updating the Projects using Project Online 2016. When they are updating the Project Plans as information comes, they add the information and Publish so that others who have access/share can see details.

Our requirements is to have the history of Updates / Check In and Check Out so that we can track the Version and also may need to revoke some publish which may not be required.

Kindly assist in this particular query or links which can help to achieve this scenario.

Rohit Bahl.

"sorry, you have not to access right to this page" in project server 2013 Web App PAge.

Hi,

I've used Project Web App on Sharepoint 2013. The security setting mode is ProjectServer Mode, without any change in the security setting the project server gives me an error "sorry, you have not to access right to this page". I have the administrator right of the project web app.

But when I change the permission mode to Sharepoint Mode then Project Web app open successfully and when re-switch to ProjectSerever Mode then again occur same error.

MS Project Server Resource Allocation View -- How do I get the timeline to print?

0
0

I have MS Project Server 2010 and MS Project Professional 2010 64-bit with all the latest SPs and CUs installed.  I have 50 projects utilizing a pool of 140 Enterprise Resources.  I create a temporary Master Project Schedule so I can view all my resources across all projects.

I need a view that seems impossible to find:  A gantt view of Projects grouped by Resource Name.   I would like the table portion to have the following columns:  Resource name, Project Name, Work, Duration, Start, Finish, Max Units, Project Priority.  I would like the timeline to show me the last month and the next two months, with a line indicating "today".  I ONLY want to see the summary for each resource on a per project basis, not each individual task.  I need the timeline bar to show when a resource is overallocated by going red.  This is for management to get a quick view on what projects the resources are working on, and where they are at.  I don't need to see every task in every project, just a summary of resource per project.

I have tried the following reports and none of them give me what I need -- starting with the most promising:

  • MS Project Server PWA Resource Allocation Gantt
-- Does not allow me to "print" the timeline, only the tabular data -- if I could print that WITH the timeline, this would resolve my issues
-- Does not allow me to indentify overallocated by colour in the timeline, but I can live with that, as I can put that into a column
  • MS Project Pro Team Planner View using a temporary Master Project Schedule
-- Does not allow me to add any additional columns (project name, max units, etc.)
-- Does not allow me to summarize tasks on a per resource per project basis
-- Does not allow me to display the name of the project in or next to the "bar", so I can identify the project without running my mouse over the bar.  This is fine when viewing online, but I need a printer PDF version.   I can have the task name displayed, but many of the projects use the same task names, so it's confusing, and they also do not necessarily display in the current window.  The only way to see many of them is to scroll, or to change the timeline.  If the bar is too small (the timeline is zoomed way out), the text is cut off and not displayed at all.
MS Project Pro Resource Allocation view (Resource Usage with Leveling Gantt) using temporary Master Project Schedule
-- Does not allow me to identify overallocated by colour in the Leveling Gantt timeline, but I can live with that, as I can add it as a column
-- The Leveling Gantt view does not allow me to group on resource and then project, even though I have done it in the Resource Usage view above
-- The Leveling Gantt does not allow me to split out resources when one task has multiple resources assigned, even though it does in the Resource Usage view above
-- The Leveling Gantt does not allow me to summarize tasks on a per-project basis, even though I have done it in the Resource Usage view above

Basically what I am looking for is the Resource Usage view with a gantt timeline next to it, rather than the tabular format.  Does such a view exist?
