I have to develop some reports using data (PWA, Issues, Schedules, Assignments and Tasks etc.) from Project Server 2016. Several reviews have recommended to use SSRS/Excel against the pjrep schema tables or OData API. So far, i am not having much
success.
With SSIS OData API I can view all the collections (Projects, Issues, Risks, etc.) and preview data except for Projects which I get a bunch of Microsoft.Data.DataFeedClient errors. When I can preview the data I am finding that I don't see all the fields
for the collection. I am assuming the data I cannot preview are the CUSTOM fields. If this assumption is correct then how I can get to the CUSTOM fields so I can extract all the data required for reporting?
I could extract and stage all the data i need and then put into datawarehouse tables for reporting. I could also use SSAS to build a Project Server model for reporting. i just don't know where I can get all the data I need.
How do report developers typically get Project Server data for reporting? Which Project Server 2016 DB / schema (for the tables that include DEFAULT and CUSTOM fields) should I reach out for data?
I am not familiar with Project Server. I would greatly appreciate any help and advise.
