Hi,

I'm using Project Online and I'd like to add some Project level ECFs to the home page for my Project's SharePoint Project Site.  I've tried to load the 'Project Details' - 'Basic Info' web part, but I get a message 'The webpart cannot be displayed in this context.'

Thanks,

Todd

For some reason we have a few of our project that wouldn't display some custom field values in the project center. This prevent us from doing proper filtering for those custom field.

It almost look as if the project is out of sync with the server for some reason.

Hi,

We have a custom site workflow for our project server 2013 instance which is basically a demand management workflow.

We patched our whole system with the latest patch for both SharePoint and Project Server but now after patching the workflows are not working. We are getting message like "workflow action could not be loaded" while we are trying to open the workflow in SharePoint Designer. Also we are getting the below error message :

Your WorkflowStartWorkflow job failed.  Its current state is FailedNotBlocking.  It was 0% complete.  It entered the queue at 09/26/2016 06:03:24.

To get more information about the job failure, please go to Project Web App.  Select Personal Settings from the left menu.  Then select My Queued Jobs.

The errors returned from the queue are as follows:

 Error ID: 35115

 Error ID: 35100

 Error ID: 26000

Detailed error below - send it to the administrator for more detailed troubleshooting.

Checkin Pending on one computer only

We use Project Server 2013 and Project Professional 2013.

One user is unable to open a project as it says that the status is "Checkin Pending". This is not valid as the project has been checked in on the server. We  are able to open the project and check it out on other computers.

The problem is therefore with this specific machine.

What causes this problem and how should we solve it?

Project Server 2013 Reassign Tasks and Update Timesheet CSOM

I'm developing an small code that makes posible to read from database some values in order to do the Timesheets for all of employees of a corporation.

The data of the database comes from another app where Project Managers define all the task changes like reassign tasks.

The code works well when the task starts and ends with the same employee that was set from Project Manager at the start of the project tasks definition.

The issue is when Project Manager decides/needs to change the employee who is doing the task with other one for any reason. Then I got the problem that the Timesheet of the new employee doesn't have the Project Line in order to fill the Timesheet with my app.

So my question is: - Is there any way to include the line to the new employee timesheet?

Thanks in advance.

Project Server 2013 Training Environment/Sandbox

Hey folks,

My consulting organization would like to get some employees MS certified in Project Server 2013, but some of them aren't currently deployed to clients who have a Project Server 2013 installation, nor does the home office have the such an environment (nor the infrastructure to support a sandbox installation).

It sure is easier to study for the Project Server 2013 test with an environment to play around in, to refresh memories on how the software works.  Does Microsoft offer an accessible sandbox for partners who are trying to elevate their competencies and partner levels?

Thanks,

Project Online Reports

Hello,

I have just started using Power BI desktop to generate oData reports against my project online data. I then publish it to the cloud.

There are however 2 types of reports I am finding troublesome.

1. Graph of all resources and their daily work vs capacity. I'm trying to replicate the "capacity" view in project online

2. Graph of committed work, and graph of proposed work.

Does anyone have any pointers on how to get this data into a graph?

Thanks

Jeff

Can't open Project 2016 file in Project 2010

$

I had a working project that I'd been working with my team on in Project 2010.

I got a new laptop and got Project 2016 to continue working on the existing team project.

After a few days of making updates to the file, one of my team members told me that the latest copy of the Project file, that I'd been making updates to, wasn't opening on their computer which is running Project 2010.

I thought 2010 and 16 were compatible, but when I saw my colleague try opening the file an error window appeared and said that the file was in a newer version and contains advanced functionality that isn't supported in 2010. I thought that would just take out and 2016 exclusive functionalities, but after clicking ok and proceeding, the Project opened but was completely blank as if starting a new Project.

I've messed around in my 2016 version to see if I could change things to make it compatible again, but no progress. I can't think of anything that I've done differently in 2016 that I used to in 2010. I haven't explored and tried adding new functionalities in either.

Any help is appreciated!

VB.net: Using LINQ with windows authentication specified in connection string

VB.net: Using LINQ with windows authentication specified in connection string

Database admin have granted my service account access to a specific schema, however I am unable to use the app account to authenticate (in server explorer)in the data connection object as any attempt to enter a user name or password results in login failed.

In server explorer the tables show in the Views folder.  I attempted to write the connection string into the project code and use when calling the instance of the database, but no success thus far using multiple variations of the connection string below.

What I am trying to accomplish is for the end user of the application work under their current credentials and when access to the database is needed, the service account credentials would only be used to pull the data.  I haven't tried this yet with just using SQL, but am really needing to have it work with LINQ to avoid having to recode most of the project.  (Works perfect for anyone who has read-write access on their NT account)

Project Server 2016- Currency update is not reflecting

Hello,

I am working on Project Server 2016 where I have updated the currency in Additional Server Setting from USD to SAR.

Now when I am creating a project all my cost custom fields are showing as SAR

but when I am saving it and opening the PDP again it is showing me the fields in USD.

I have also checked the database, the DB is also showing USD.

Can anyone help me in changing the currency or it is a bug in Project server 2016.

Thanks in advance.

TASK_UID mismatch in "TimesheetLine_Userview" versus PSI "SvcTimeSheet.TimesheetDataSet"

Hi,

I'm facing an issue that I'm not fully understanding, maybe someone can help.

When I query [MSP_TimesheetLine_UserView] for a specific timesheetUID, the TaskUID's I get dont always match the TASK_UID that I get when retrieving the same data using PSI.

A few tasks match, a few don't.

I'm loading the tasks into a DataTable (.net) from PSI using the following

DataTable dtTASKS = new DataTable();

dtTASKS.Load(timeSheetDs.Tables[1].CreateDataReader());

but the "TASK_UID" from PSI and "TaskUID" from TimesheetLine_UserView *may mismatch.

What plays a role in defining these UIDs? I was expecting them to be consistent. Does the view display a copy of the "real tasks" in some interim status?

Any light or pointer would be great!

thanks in advance

Pedro

The Project you are trying to insert is a sub project in other projects and may prevent the current project from being published - How do you resolved this error, is there a better way to link the same sub project in multiple master projects ?

Task with shared hours (or pool) across resources

Hello,

I have what I am hoping is a simple requirement.

I have a client who has purchased say 100 hours of support time with us. He has paid upfront for the hours, and they will get used as needed by different resources....like ad-hoc support.

How would I setup a task to achieve this?

I am using Project Online with Project Pro.

Thanks

Using Project Professional 2016 with Project Server 2013?

$

Hello-

I work for a large corporation where software distribution is not always aligned  to happen in sync. We have a group that was using Project Professional 2013 with an instance of Project Server 2013. Our organization began pushing Office 2016 to individuals, which caused Project Professional 2013 to be uninstalled. The impacted members are able to re-install Project Pro 2013, however when they try to open a project from PWA, it can no longer detect that Project Professional is installed on their desktops, receiving the message "Project Professional needs to be installed to open the project. Install Project and try again"

We have since installed Project Professional 2016 on one user's desktop and the error message does go away, but I cannot find any documentation supporting that Project Pro 2016 is indeed compatible with Project Server 2013. We are not in a place where we can upgrade the Project Pro instance to 2016 (funding and resource constraints). The fallout from Office 2016 caught us completely off guard and we are just trying to find the best 'fix' to put in place without having to upgrade our entire Project Server environment.

Does anybody know if there is a compatibility issue between Project Pro 2016 and Project Server 2013?

Thanks
