Hello Project Managers !

I've an issue with the display of the Task 0 of a masterproject on the 2013 Project Server of a Customer of mine.

The task 0 is refresh when the data of the first subproject inserted.

Then when a second subproject is inserted nothing happens.

If you delete the first subproject, the masterproject keeps this information.

This Task 0 isn't refreshed either we save or publish the Master project.

We are planning to create a hierarchy as below

Organization ->portfolio ->Program->Project

Organization can contain multiple Portfolios, similarly we can have multiple programs and projects in the hierarchy

We are planning to create project sites for each programs as well as for each portfolio.

what's the best way to differentiate program and project (without setting meta data separately) - in fact facing challenge to identify which one is program vs project while trying to create reports via power bi.

We have a custom field to capture Cap Type. Some of our team creates their own tasks in PWA. We want them to be able to classify if it is Capital or Expense on each task. I want to add this custom field type to the page so when they are inserting a new task for a project it requires them to choose. I researched and couldn't find a way to add it to the page, but I was able to add it to the timesheet view. However regardless of what you choose in the timesheet view it doesn't sync with the project schedule in PWA or Project Pro. It doesn't even show the data that has already been filled out in Project Pro in the timesheet view. Looking for a way to force them to enter the cap type every they create a new task from their timesheet.

Dear Experts.

We’ve setup a number of projects and assigned resources to the respective tasks. The “Resource Utilization” shows the capacity and the work of the resource. Everything fine here. The problem is that the “Capacity and Engagements Heatmap” shows always 0d of the respective resource. Please advise on what I need to change to get the appropriate Heatmap.

There is no menu "Delete" in the list of PWA webs or I don't see it? Try on RTM version, did not pay attention on Beta at this point.

I am having an issue with some unwanted data populating custom fields when creating a project from list items.

We have a workflow set up to automatically create a project once a particular field is set to a certain value. Everything works great but the problem arises when I map the fields to PWA fields. Here are what the custom fields on the PDPs look like after the project is created:

13;#Mark Hayes

13;#Tom Burke

13;#Lisa Josker

I noticed that all of the fields with this unwanted data are actually being populated from another list. This is what it looks like:

List#1 -> Populates List#2 -> Project is created from List#2. All of the fields that are associated on List#2 that come from List#1 come with this unwanted data.

I hope this makes and I look forward to any assistance in removing this unwanted data.

Hi all,

I have been banging my head against the wall these past few days and was hoping to get some advice regarding the tracking of non-project work. Our company is a bit unique in how it assigns tasks:

• We have two project files - "Project Work" and "Non-project Work"
• Individuals who have completed assigned tasks in "Project Work" are considered to be eligible for non-project work assignments
• Non-project work tasks can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks and are manually assigned
• However, project work always trumps non-project work, so, for example, if an individual was on a non-project task and they were needed for project work, the non-project task would get put on hold and the resource would get re-assigned

As of right now, we have a report that shows resource availability based on the Finish (resource) field. However, ideally we'd like to see both the finish date of the individual's project tasks (to inform eligibility for a new project assignment)and the finish date of non-project tasks (to inform eligibility for a new non-project assignment).

Any advice would be much appreciated! Happy to provide additional context as necessary.

Right now "Resources" is the default homepage for PWA. Does anyone know how to change this so it is "My tasks"

NOTES:  WSS; Project Server 2007

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the data used to populate PWA's view "Resource Availibility" was the "Work" data... 

Now I have this problem where a resource is assigned to a Published Project, where the correct "actual" and "work" hours are reflected in the "Resource Assignments" view, but the data does not show up at all on the "Resource Availability" view...  Now I am being asked why is the data incorrect... 

Example:  Resource X worked on Project ABC from 3JAN2012-9JAN2012.  The resource completed 40 hours of actual work, which was entered by the PM using Project 2007 Professional (Resource Usage/Task Usage View).  Project ABC was then published, and the project has since made it to 100% complete before today's date. 

Resource Assignments shows:  Work = 40 hours, Actual Work = 40 hours, and Remaining Work = 0 hours for the Task from Project ABC.

Resource Availibility does show that there was work for that project, but it does show work for that day/week/month of JAN2012 on other projects.

Options:  Date Range = 1/1/2012 To: 1/13/2012  ;  Units:  Days

              Include Proposed Bookings: (Check)

Can someone help me explain why?

 I have a question from project server experts,My project server show some unbelievable result about some projects.Like below example ,one of my project start date in project center view is“01/03/2016 “    and finish date is “29/04/2016 “   but in SQL query the result is different in start date “12/10/2016 “    and the finish date same line in project center   .Need help on urgent basis.

Hi,

We use task sheets to define inputs and expected outputs for a particular task in project server. How can I add a multi-line field that can show this information. A single line of text will not do. It is usually a paragraph or bulletized list etc. The task name is not enough information to define to the people doing the task.

Hi, 

i wanted to know if there is a way to develop a custom eventreceiver which is getting executed when a new task to a project is created or an existing one is edited.

I am a Microsoft SharePoint developer and know how to create SharePoint EventReceivers. But is there something similar? Does it what i need? If yes, is there any good starting documentation on creating and deploying such one? 

Or is there any other technique do achieve this? Emails alerts are no solution for me!

When a resource sends a status update they have a chance to enter a comment.
When the PM accepts the update they have the chance to enter a comment.

My question is where is the comment field stored? (PS or SP) what table or list?

Scenario:

1. PMO1 group wants to edit projects in PMO1 group AND see all projects in PMO2 group in read-only.
2. PMO2 group wants to edit projects in PMO2 group AND see all projects in PMO1 group in read-only



What has been done so far!

-Created a project flag that distinguishes betweenPMO1 vsPMO2 project

-Created two “Portfolio Manager Groups” (PMO1 and PMO2)

-Created category andPMO1View, which let’s them only see their own project flagged as PMO1

-Createdcategory andPMO2View, which let’s them only see their own project flagged as PMO2

-Created a general view which let’s them see all projects, BUT both groups are still able to edit the other group’s projects

I tried RBS, but not sure if I did it correctly.

For each resource in the Resource Usage view, there is an expandable section for Other Projects and Commitments, complete with a rolled-up subtotal for those projects. Within the same type of view, I'd like to display the current project tasks in a similar fashion. Out of the box, what we see is one detail row per task, but no subtotal for the current project and no way to collapse those tasks.

What we're trying to do is illustrate the amount of work the resource already has going on (Other Projects) alongside the amount of new work we're proposing to add with the current project.

Is there a straightforward way to accomplish what I'm after?
