Project Detail Pages Left Navigation Menu with Oslo Site Layout

0

I am running Project Server 2013 and using the Oslo site layout (Site Settings->Change the Look). This layout moves the quick launch navigation items from the left side of the page to the top of the page. The Project Detail Pages, however, still show the quick launch items on the left side of the screen, and I do not see an option to set the PDP to Oslo layout. Is there any way to make the PDPs consistent with the Oslo layout that appears in the rest of PWA?

Licensing for UAT Project Server 2013

0
0

We have a production environment of Microsoft Project Server 2013 and we have acquired below licenses already.

Microsoft Project Server 2013, Microsoft SharePoint 2013, Microsoft SQL Standard 2012, SharePoint Standard CAL, Enterprise CAL and SQL Server CAL

We are planning to deploy a second environment for development and testing purpose. We called it UAT platform where it is limited to a few IT and business lead users' access and would like to know the license requirement for this UAT platform. Of course, we can purchase the same set of software license as production system but looking for a more cost effective way to do so. I have called local Microsoft representative and he suggests me to obtain Visual Studio Professional which can cover all required server licenses. What I need to do is purchase the sufficient CAL for user access.

As I am not familiar with Visual Studio licensing scheme, is it a feasible and cost effective way to set up the development environment with user access for testing.

Unable to create deliverable using MS Project - Error: The deliverable has no workspace registered.

Hello,

While trying creating Deliverable using MS Project, following error appears and user is failed to create any deliverable:

The deliverable has no workspace registered. The workspace may have been removed from the Project workspace settings or deleted.

Obviously the project site exist, and I am also able to create deliverable within deliverable list directly.

The issue is appearing for every new and existing project sites, except the existing sites where deliverables already listed.

Also note that issue occurs even with default site template.

Below is the snippet from log files:

The only evident clue in logs is Access Deniedmessage, which leads to permission related issue.

However I have thoroughly checked permissions and couldn’t find any required permission missing.

TRNSW is on dedicated server, and patched up to March 2015 CU.

This doesn’t really look like a CU related issue, as another customer is farm is exactly at same patch level, and there are no issues.

Any input would be appreciated.

thanks.

How to consolidate status report in Project Server

0
0

Hi All,

I am using on-premises Project Server 2013 and Project Web App for managing projects. I wanted to have a consolidated Status reports of all team members and of all projects.

Say for example 2 projects are handled by a single Project Manager:

Project 1 status Report --->  Member 1, Member 2, Member 3

Project 2 Status Report --->  Member 4, Member 5, Member 6

So here , Members send status report for Project 1 and Project 2 independently. As the manager is same for both these projects, then he will get 6 independent status reports, 3 in each of Requested Status Report for each Project. But he can view :consolidated Project 1 status report of Members 1,2 and 3 or

consolidated Project 2 status report of Members 4, 5 and 6.

But I found no option in Project Web App, which provides a consolidated Report viewing of both these Projects together by the manager ie.,

consolidated Project 1 and Project 2 reports by Members 1,2,3,4,5 and 6

1. So, Is there any way that I can club all these reports together into a single report, or into an excel sheet or to a sharepoint list 2. Or is there any way to view the consolidated Status Reports in a dashboard? Because I could not find any attributes related to Status Report in either Excel or in OLAP Cubes.

Waiting for replies,

Shanky

Task level rolled up calculated field to project level giving wrong values when project custom field is edited from PDP

Hi

I have created project level custom field which rolls up from task level calculated custom field. The calculated fields at the task level have date column as fields. When I open the PDP of the project from server and make some changes and then save and publish the project from the server, the values of these custom fields changes giving wrong information. When the same project is opened in Project professional and updated and saved and published from Professional , the fields are restored? May I know what is happening here please? And how do I make this discrepancy go away ?

ProjectOnline Timeline Web Part - Partitioning

0
0

I want to be able to show selected projects from one location/facility in one page with their own timeline, and another facility page to show their projects and timelines.

I've tried to create a custom page per facility and added the Project Center web part and the Timeline web part, connected them, but it seems there is only one Timeline web part configurable for the entire Project Online instance.

That is, I cannot add a Timeline web part and make it independent to the page. Once I connect to the Project Center web part as the data source, any added project appears on both Timeline web parts.

Any innovative ideas out there?

How to find AD GUID?

Hi All,

For the past few days we are receiving a partial fail on the Active Directory sync. It has caused due to a single user. I checked the AD GUID for that resource and then I co-ordinated with the Server Admin to check the AD GUID on the AD Server. But he gave me an objectGUID. It did not match at all. Further I checked the objectGUID on the Project Server but it was no where to be found. I just need help to know where I can find the AD GUID on the AD Server.

Publication of the big-sized Enterprise projects from Project Professional 2013 to Project Server 2013 takes about 60+ minutes.

Dear Sirs,

I need your support over the following MS EPM 2013 issue:

Publication of the big-sized Enterprise projects from Project Professional 2013 to Project Server 2013 takes about 30+ minutes. We need to reduce this total publication time down to acceptable working values 10+- minutes.

Environment information:

Single App Server (Virtual): 16 Gb RAM, x64 4xCPU, HDD > 50 GB free disk space, OS Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition x64 Service Pack 1, MS SharePoint Server 2013 and MS Project Server 2013 with CU December 2013 (KB 2850024) applied.

Single RDBMS MS SQL Server (Virtual): 8 Gb RAM, x64 4xCPU, HDD > 200 GB free space, OS Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition x64 Service Pack 1, MS SQL Server 2012 x64 SP 1 Enterprise Edition.

We have 1Gbit LAN between APP, DB server and 1Gbit LAN between APP and Proj Prof Client.

Yes, we are on the way of migrating to the Prod environment with 3-tiered architecture (with SP1 slipstream and CU December 2014 applied), but this issue alsopresents there.

Project’s file information:

Tasks in the file: [~4900], resources in the file [~396] enterprise task’s custom fields used in the file [~23].

Project save procedure for this new project would last about 7 minutes. Project publication would last about 47 minutes. We noticed that tasks synchronization process took about 1 second for each ~2,5 tasks, to add them to the sharepoint tasks list. So for all 5148 tasks it took about 5148/3/60 =  34 minutes. Other 13 min was used for reporting database publication and other tasks relevant for new sharepoint site creation.

Case 1: Issue description:

During the Enterprise project’s file save and publication we have the following sharepoint 2013 log messages:

07.31.2014 12:43:17.22 Microsoft.Office.Project.Server (0x0358) 0x3D5C SharePoint Foundation Monitoring b4ly High Leaving Monitored Scope (Persisting list changes). performing time =376.068676326181 22dca99c-4696-70f1-e9e2-06851d0bcffd

07.31.2014 12:43:17.69 Microsoft.Office.Project.Server (0x0358) 0x3D5C SharePoint Foundation Monitoring b4ly High Leaving Monitored Scope (Persisting list changes). performing time =361.652807828928 22dca99c-4696-70f1-e9e2-06851d0bcffd

It shows that sharepoint spend at least ~350 milliseconds (or 0,35 sec*4900 tasks = 1715 sec, or 28,5 min) for each task update during project publication. And we also have another log file that shows that about 0,7 sec (or 0,7 sec*4900 tasks = 3430 sec, or 57 min) sharepoint spend for save each task in project file to project server. So total save and publication time more then 60+ minutes for that project file. The same result we have even if user didn’t do any changes at the project file.

We use only enterprise projects (dbo.MSP_EpmProject_UserView.projectvisibilitymode = «False»), and do not use sharepoint tasks lists, but the synchronization between MSP Plan and SharePoint tasks list works at any case.

Case 2: Issue description:

- For the second test we created a new project with new sharepoint project’s site on basis of our «issue» project, with total amount of tasks in it of 5148 (yes, we increased the tasks list default limit at the sharepoint site up to 6000 items in it – standard limits for sharepoint view list – 5000 items).

- Project save procedure for this new project would last about 7 minutes.

-Then we deleted the tasks list for that new test project from the sharepoint site and republish the project plan one more time. This time project save procedure took about 7 minutes, project publication about 2 minutes and 3 minutes for other relevant queue jobs. So total time is 12 minutes.

As a conclusion: yes, we have determined the exact problem - during synchronization process (from Project Server to SharePoint) it perform copying all tasks and related data from Project to SharePoint in spite of fact that you changed only ONE task or ALL of them. At any case, synchronization will copy ALL of them from Project Server to SharePOint task’s list.

Our workaround is to disable the task’s synchronization for such big-sized project plans:

– to delete the SharePoint «tasks» list at the SharePoint site tied with project plan.

- or deattach the SharePoint site from the project plan.

Thank you for reading this topic, please if you also forced with such issue provide us any known workaround or maybe any official response \ feedback from MS about it.

Thank you in advance,

Best Regards, Andrey

Dears,

I create a new webpart page, and add the project detail webpart on it,

it works well when I pass the 'ProjUid' param via url,

Dear Sirs,

I need your support over the following MS EPM 2013 issue:

After creation Enterprise custom text field with formula for Resources via Project Server web-interface, I can't find it in available fields in "Resource Center".

Meanwhile this field remains available in Project Professional 2013 and formula work fine.

If I removeformula in field parameters via Project Server web-interface, field's added to "Resource Center".

Delete project from Project Server Administrative Restore

Administrative restore holds on to project files after they are deleted ...AWESOME.

But what if I want to delete the file forever?  For example, if we delete one of our client departments, and they have a couple of test projects, I don't want these test projects clogging up the server for the rest of time.  Is there a way to permanently remove them after the department has been removed?

Thanks

EDIT this is project server 2010; however, it applies to both 2010 and 2013

Is there any way that you can tell who has been connecting to Project Server 2013 using Project Pro 2013?

Indicators are not displayed in PWA Project View on Project Server 2007

We have Project Server 2007 SP2 with SQL Server 2008 SP2 and Clients (Project Pro 2007 SP2 and PWA SP2 on Windows-64bit) implemented. On PWA Project View, any Project views contain "Indicators" column at the left-most as system default, but it does not show any indicators except project information at project summary task. No other indicators (Completed indicator, Note indicator, Constraint indicator, and Leveling indicator) are displayed in the Indicator column. How can we make all the other Indicators shown in the Indicators column just as in Project Professional? all the custom indicators in custom fields are displayed just fine.

Bulk Resources into PWA Project Server , User Logon Account

Hello

I would really appreciate anyone who could reply answering the following:

I have 100+ new resources to add to Project Server 2013.

I've tried Check-Out Resource, after clicking on Open button from Resouces in PWA.

But, the "User Logon Account" is not editable. I'd like to make it editable in order to type directly the data in the format "i:0#.w|" <domainName>\<userID>

Two questions:

How can I make User Logon Account field in Check-Out Resources plan editable?

Is this the correct process to bulk new resources, what more steps am I missing?

Regards,

Iñaki
