Timesheet issue

Dear All

         I am working as a Administrator for Project Server 2010. One of my user getting below error while clicking timesheet link in PWA 2010.

        The view failed to load. Press OK to reload this view with the default settings. Press Cancel to select another view.

Let me know anything else you need from my side. Kindly help me to rectify this issue

Publish: Connection Timeout Error

Hello,

We are running project 2010 and project server, updated to the latest versions.  We have been unable to Publish successfully since deploying our full number of subprojects.  We have a Master Plan with ~60 subprojects in it.  When I open the master plan and work on it, I'm able to save successfully.  However, I'm unable to Publish successfully.  We get a a connection timeout error message as per:

Has anyone encountered this and found a solution?  I regularly clear my cache before publishing, and I raised the limit on cache size to 500MB.  Our hosting provider has raised the timeout limit several times, and are at a loss as to the possible cause.  Since the DB's are remote hosted by our provider, I only have PWA access not direct DB access or experience.  Looking at the Publish timestamp(under File tab when plans are open locally in MSProject 2010), it appears that sometimes, maybe 1 out of 15, the plans Publish successfully. However, we have consistently received this error regardless of the plans getting Published, which makes me mistrust the timestamp.

Any suggestions what I can do from my end, or instruct our provider to do on the DB side?

Actual Finish date disappears?

Hello all. I have a couple of files that have a recurrinig problem. The actual finish dates on tasks keeps getting cleared and reset to NA. The tasks are marked 100% complete, the actual finish date populates in the field, and the file is saved. Later when the file is opened the actual finish dates are NA but the % complete is still 100%.

Anyone see this behavior?

MSP2007 SP2, Oct 2010 CU and project server patched the same.

Using SharePoint 2010 enterprise edition. 32 bit Project 2007 is installed on my machine with 32 bit MS Office. Have contribute access to the library.

The "Default open behavior for browser-enabled documents: "at Library Settings >> Advanced Settings is set to "Open in the client application".  “SharePoint OpenDocuments Class”  add-on is enabled in IE 8 was enabled via the IE Tools -> Manage add-ons -> Microsoft Corporation section .

When we click on the .mpp file in SharePoint, it prompts for check-out or read-only   ALL OK

When clicking on a link in email, the .mpp files opens in MS Project but no option to check-out the file for edit purposes!!

With other MS Office documents i.e. .docx, it does give an option to "Check out" the document.

OLAP cube not getting actuals updates

Hello,

I have a project schedule that was corrupted.  We saved a copy locally, deleted the copy, and then re-saved a copy to project center.  All the actuals from the past has been lost and not in the project schedule or the olap cube.  How can we retrieve this information because it is sitting in the resources who are on the project timesheet?

PWA 2007 + Project Center + Project Detail view + How to format Duration, Start, Finish fields?

Hello 

On Project Professional client you can format the Duration, Start, Finish fields to show Minutes, But on the PWA project detail view I can not format the field

Default format

DURATION = 0.13d

Start = 7/11/12

Finish = 7/11/12

I want to display Minutes instead of days in the duration, and i want to show the full date field with minutes

DESIRED FORMAT

DURATION = 2H (hours) or 120Mins (Minutes)

Start = 7/11/12 10:00AM

Finish = 7/11/12 12:00PM

Can this be accomplish on PWA 2007??? 

Update tasks through outlook in Project Server 2007

Hi,

I am trying to update the task through outlook, i have imported the assignments in my outlook.

If i open the task,every option is disabled (like  the percent complete, Total Work,Actuall billable work etc),

How should i enter the actuals?

Modify documnet library link in "Project Center"

I need to delete the document library "link" referenced in the attached screen capture from the "indicator" column in "Project Center".  I want to keep the page, I just do not want to have the link displayed in the indicator column.  How do I remove this link? Or how do I modify the URL of this link.  Presently, it references the "All Site Content" page.  I would prefer it to point to another page if possible.  How can I change the URL for this link?


Accessing the Project Site in SharePoint

I am an admin in PWA.  Admins have ability to access the project web site.  However, when I click on the site in Server Settings -> Operational Policies -> Project sites or directly from the projcet itself using the project site button I get an errmsg 'ACCESS DENIED'.  I am also on the team for this project.  How can I get access to the project site in SharePoint?  I deleted / re-created from the Project sites page.  I have multiple projects and cannot access any of them.  I am able to create other kinds of sites inside of sharepoint.  TIA.

A lot of our project managers experience out of memory errors when opening multiple project files fom project server 2010.
Would this be related to certain projects or is this a known problem.

I have a client that is getting ready to implement Project Server 2010. They currently use project names like the following:

CH1-2012-101 Migrate Server

The first three characters are assigned by the group that reviews proposals. The year is automatically assigned. The "101" needs to be an automatically incrementing number.  The text comes from a project proposal form.

Is it possible to automatically build the Project Name column so that it follows this pattern?  Would this require custom code, or is there some provision with custom fields and workflows that will accomodate this?

Project Server 2010 - Resource Assignments summary tasks

Hello!

This is my first time posting a question, so please bear with me!

In Project Server 2010, when you go to Project Center, this is what you see, you can see what task is assigned to what resource.  And you can see the summary tasks above it, so you know exactly where the resource will be working, etc. 

I want to be able to see these same Summary tasks when I click on Resource Assignments for a particular Resource, but this is what I see instead...also, note that 'Summary Tasks' IS checked.

In Project 2007, on the Resource Assignments screen (for a particular Resource) when you clicked on Summary Tasks, you were able to see all of the summary tasks.

But no matter what I try in Project Server 2010 , no matter what views or filters I choose, the Summary Tasks in STILL do not appear!  Is there a way to do this?

Hi

I have configured Project Professional 2010 to connect to PS2010 in a Citrix Environment.

While I can easily edit the Proejcts Save and Publishing them through Project Pro by opening Project Pro directly, I cannot open the projects and edit in Project Pro via the PWA environment.

The Open in Project Professional options in Project Centre are greyed out. I am using IE 8.0 and logged in as Administrator

Any Pointers much appreciated.

How to make "Period Total" in "My Work / Tasks" not editable?

Hello,
I'm working in PWA 2010 with the "Tracking mode" equal to " Hours of Work Done per Time Period". I would like to have the "Period Total" not editable  in "My Work / Tasks" .
Users should only enter their actuals in the day of the period and not as a total for the period.
Is it possible thru the customization of a view?
I don't see such options in the Manage view list.

Resource Usage View in Project 2010, need to view actual hours per resource per project.

In previous versions of project if you looked at the Resource Usage chart it would show you total actual hours per resource for the project plan currently open.  However in Project 2010 it shows you total actual hours per resource across all projects.  If you expand a resource it will then show a detailed view but you have to manually add each of the items they worked on for your desired project to get the total hours worked for just that 1 project.  Is there a smart way to do this or to make it behave like it used to?

Error on saving timesheet

Hi,

Some users in our Project Server 2010 SP1 environment are getting the following error messasge while saving their timesheets

The clients machines are all XP SP3 machines with IE 7/8. On clicking ok, all the data gets lost. Typically, users are adding multiple number of custom line classification we have created and also giving comments to the column. Its a standard process so I am unable to figure what could be the cause.

Plan corruption / changed task hierarchy

Hello

a project manager saved his plan to Project Server and he also did a local backup.

He opens the plan again next day.

He finds, that somewhere in the 500 tasks plan the tasks are somehow mixed. Some taks have become summary tasks that have not been before and some tasks moved within the plan.

Sounds somehow funny, but I have seen it.

And the worst thing - we restored the plan from archive database, did a copy / paste of all tasks to a completely new plan to get rid of possible corruption in the binary part of the plan - and after one week the same issue occured again - only with other tasks affected.

The only "special" in this plan that makes it different to most of the other about 1.000 in the system is that the plan contains quite many tasks that have been set to inactive.

Does anybody here know of such issues - perhaps in connection with inactive tasks?

ECF bound to a lookup that gets values from project team ?

Is it possible to create a lookup table (and the corresponding task-level ECF) that gets its contents dynamically from the project team?

For example, when I open Project1, the lookup gets its values from that project team. When I open Project2, it gets them from the Project2 team, etc.

Basically I need something like the "Resources" default field, so that I can set a "Task Owner" who's always a member of the project team...
